The Project involved design and construction of a new rc commercial wharf at Jalan Ding Lik Kwong, Sg. Merah, Sibu Division to cater for both the general cargo vessels plying the upstream and downstream trade of the Batang Rajang and Batang Igan and for the coastal vessels traversing to Mukah, Balingian, Bintulu, Miri, Marudi, Limbang and Lawas.
The project consists of the construction of the followings: –
- Reinforced concrete wharf approach with length 20.8m and width 7.4m
- Reinforced concrete wharf head with a berthing front length of 70m and 9m wide to cater for multiple in-line berthing of various sizes of vessels.
- widening of and extending the premix pavement leading to the wharf approach.
- provision of lay-by for lorries.
The wharf is designed for regular berths of general cargo and coastal vessels of up to 2,000 GRT at the wharf head.
