Balingian Coal Power Plant, Mukah

This project consists of constructing earthwork platform for the Balingian Coal Fired Power Plant in Mukah. The site is partly situated on areas where deep peat soil is overlaying very soft clay layer. The earthwork involves major removal and replacement works where all existing peat are removed using long arm excavator and replaced with sand material. Prefabricated vertical drains (PVD) with surcharging were also used extensively throughout the site to expedite the consolidation settlement of the underlying soft clay layer. This project costed RM RM 100 Million with construction started on 2014 and finished on 2016.
