This is a waste treatment plant for the Samarahan Pig Farming Area catering for 250,000 SPP (standing pig population). The pig waste is thickened to 25% DS before undergoing anaerobic process in continuously stirred tank reactors. The liquid stream is treated in ASR for nitrogen reduction. The final filtrate is treated in SBR units for BOD reduction before discharging to the polishing wetland. Biogas is harvested from the digesters for power and heat generation in CHP with a designed output of 1.7 MW electricity and 2.2 MW heat energy.
